Confidentiality is one of the most important and sacred aspects of a therapeutic relationship and I honor and respect the privacy of all my clients by not revealing their identity as one of my clients to another individual, other than if the client has signed a written release, giving permission for me to do so. The exceptions to this are only those required under law, as a Massachusetts licensed psychotherapist and mandated reporter. If I have been alerted that a client is planning on harming her/himself or another individual, or has abused a minor, elderly or disabled person, then I must contact the state authorities who protect such individuals.
